UFC Rankings Update: Brian Ortega’s Climb Continues, Andrei Arlovski Returns to Top 10

Now that UFC 222 is in the books, the promotion’s latest rankings have gone up, and not surprisingly, Brian Ortega’s climb has continued.

Ortega took on former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar at the event, and he proceeded to finish the legendary fighter in the first round with strikes. As a result of the jaw dropping victory, Ortega has moved into the #1 spot at 145, and Edgar has slipped to #3. Former champ Jose Aldo was ranked #1 prior to UFC 222, but he’s now sitting in the #2 spot.

Another key move was made by Andrei Arlovski, who worked his way to a decision win over fellow heavyweight contender, Stefan Struve on Saturday. As a result of that win, the former champ has returned to the division’s top ten, as Arlovski jumped from #12 to #10.

Struve, meanwhile, fell to #12.

One of the night’s biggest moments below to Alex Hernandez, who bombed out lightweight contender Beneil Dariush in less than a minute. Hernandez was making his UFC debut, and now he’s jumped into the #13 spot at 155.  Not a bad way to begin your Octagon run.

UFC 222 took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
